#WestNileVirus (WNV), a close relative of Dengue Virus, causes a zoonotic disease, i.e., a disease which occurs in animals and humans. It is transmitted to humans by a bite of a Culex mosquito. Isolated cases have been documented from Southern and eastern parts of India; however, none has converted into an epidemic since 2011, unlike Europe, Africa, America, and the Middle East.
