Dr. Nilesh Shah, President and Chief of Research and Innovation, Metropolis Labs recently participated in a panel discussion titled ‘Making Patients Aware on Safety Standards’ at the 9th edition of the International Patient Safety Conference (IPSC). Facilitated by #NATHealth Healthcare Federation of India in association with Apollo Hospitals, this panel discussion threw light on the importance of Patient Safety and the role that diagnostic industry can play to ensure it. In this session, Dr Nilesh Shah emphasized that today’s patient community is curious to know and understand the end-to-end processes and outcomes of the diagnosis and treatment. Therefore, effective patient communication will play a crucial role in the healthcare industry. We need to bring more transparency to patients by developing and sharing patient-friendly communication materials in a simplified language which they can easily understand. The healthcare industry, including diagnostics, has already realized the need and have been working on different and innovative ways of communicating with patients across multiple touchpoints.
